Getting ready...Guangzhou China Trip

I have to catch a plane to Guangzhou, China later at 9.30am...
This is my 1st trip to China mainland... and 1st working trip with MOD.

I didn't count Hong Kong because in my mind that seems like a different country...
Air ticket, Visa, passport are ready...

Checked the weather forecast...
Wow!! it's hotter than Kuala Lumpur..40-43 degree Celsius!
And it's also raining and thunder storms lately...
Oh no... I'm gonna sweat like a pig!!!
So 1st packing tip is... thin, light, comfortable clothes...
Comfortable walking shoes... sneaker and a flip flop...

Change some currency... simple calculation RM1 = RMP0.50

And I wanna take a lot of photos of this trip...coz Daddy just bought me a new Olympus digital camera - anti shake, 10 mega pixel & some other functions and..
He insist that I improve my photography skill.
so must I must remember to prepare my camera extra battery, charger... then i should bring my laptop too!

Blah blah...

Have to finished up packing!!!
I've to settle my packing now and get up real early..
:( 5am...

Headgear work in progress Part VI

So what do you think of this headgear? I tried it on my head... well, it's heavy ..

Next is to decorate the bottom using wire and beads. Firstly, tie wire onto the starting spot... Then start builting the curves evenly at the bottom of the lower layer...
Add bead drops with Head pins, a total of four curves and three smaller curves in between.

Final look before I add the veil and strings to tie around the neck.
I'll do this when I get back from China... :)

Headgear work in progress Part V

Now to start constructing the lower layer petals...

Here's a completed one... Seems too much space in between each bead strapes..
Messy wires... sometime hit my face when I was not awared
Curve a completed petals into the shape of a flower petal...
Now prepare to attach the two upper and middle layer... by inserting another hard wire into the other rim, attached the readied eyepin from the upper layers..
Firmly tie again using stainless steel art wire...

There... finally staked up 3 layers together..
I'm now only 80% done...
Still need to...
1. attach the veil behind the headgear and
2. the bottom dangling bead drops for a complete decorations.
3. to find a box to fit this headgear
4. prepare my bill and delivery!!!

Headgear work in progress part IV

Still need to secure the hair bun with some more beaded wire...

Then finished the eye pin at the bottom, there... Now I am almost done with the top and middle layers of the headgear...
Just need to attach it together with the bottom layer.

To start the bottom layer,
There are four large petals at the lower layer.
Firstly, weave the bottom base with beads and wire ( same technique as the top and middle layers)
Then insert a thick hard wire into the rim of the beads...
Then connect both ends with an eye pin.
Prepare some beads and wires to attach to each petals...

Same as the middle layer, build the boarder of the petal then attach bead straps in between...
Make sure to tie and secure the wire so it stays firmly,

:( Scratched my nail polish...
Need more strength now because using a lot of hard wire..
My fingers and hand sores after 2-3 hours work... very painful!

Jane Watever - the very begining

Me and Intan created "Jane Watever"
We have been working on this since May, 2008...
Our 1st thought is... we wanted to create an icon... a brand and a "Watever" culture.

Intan is my best friend and partner since 10 years ago - while we both worked in TV3...
We been throught things together... Ups and downs...
But we had real good times.
Now she's a mommy of 2 kids, wife and a wardrobe stylist... she's so busy...
I really amazed of her strength...
we hardly have time to meet up and progress our Jane project...
But we kept in touch and she tried to meet up with me whenever we can...

We did our researched, explored and created several cartoon images...
then I encourage her to draw using her freehand and here's Jane is born...

This is her original sketch which I scanned from her drawing block...
Jane was not called Jane in the begining... her name was...
Poison Ivy, Girl next door, Strawberry fat free yogurt, sista blah blah....

I remembered telling Intan about my cousin who lives in Canada that practise fine arts...
she had a beautiful daughter that looked like a princess...
And Jane is named... Watever means... WHAT EVER... ;)
Whatever fashion, style, music, nationality, language, life style, mood, religion, even sexual preference etc...

Then I started working with this sketch... improvising it to look better,
I am a dummy in IT and pc... but I tried my best,
I add and improve the sketch using photobucket online editing...

( to be continue...)

Headgear work in progress part III

I have not been working on the headgear for more than 5 days... It's time to continue...

I finished the middle layer petals... here's how it looked like: Then I weaved another smaller circular and base for the hair bun piece, then joined up the middle layer... it must be at the center and secure using artistic wires.
Then weaved a hairband across the center front of the hair bun, to fix the position... then using clear shimmer Japanese tube seed beads to secure around the bun.

The bottom of the hair bun also need to fit and fixed using artistic wire.

Here's how it looked like... Well I'm just 50% done!

Still needs to attach the lower part of the hair bun and
hairband so that it won't move at all... then i can start the base!!

A tribute necklace - The Josephine Set

It was the morning after I received the sad news about auntie Jo...
After updating my blog here...
I suddenly was so inspired by her courage and bravery- strong will of living and strong will power... and her femininity and her beauty( she's got great skin)
I created this set of fashion jewelery...and I named it the Josephine..

The main material is using nickle color metal footage chains, findings and beads to symbolize her great strength. For her femininity as a woman and mother I used white color glass pearls..8mm and 10mm sizes. Then added some decorative antique gold stopper to enhance the set.

I roughly had a design in mind so I started with the necklace... 3 strands with pearl drops
then the dangling earring..

the most time i took to complete this set is the bracelet... has 8 strands of nickle footage chains that are attached together using jump rings and decorated with 8mm white glass pearls.
Then finishing with a nickel toggle clasp.

Memorial Service

I attended auntie Jo's memorial service today.. Monday, 18th Aug, 2008!

This is my 1st home memorial service in KL...

It was raining when I left home but it stopped an hour before the service, after rain the air was cool and breeze...

Auntie Josephine Tan is one of the strongest woman I knew...Well, besides my mom who also had been fighting agains sickness!Almost all of the immediate family were present...
Friends, relatives and church members are so kind and helpful...

Even the adorable doggie Zanky, whose been really closed to auntie Jo, is so quiet... may be he also felt the sadness...
He normally loves to jump around and barking even if a bird stopped by their house gate...
He seems to know that today he have to behave himself as auntie Jo is now going back to God and sat quietly beside me with the crowd throught out the service.
When I carried him to pay the last respect, he looked at her twice... seems saying goodbye...

My heart hurts when Paul started his short speech about his mom..
Then my tears pourred out while the choir sang "Amazing Grace"
That was my beloved Mom's favorate song... and they sang this song again at the funeral...
Old memories came back when I was at my mom's service and funeral...
Like apart of my heart was being sliced into half and can never be heal agian...

After the service, I said a little prayer while on the way back to the house...
and I told myself to have a positive thoughts...
Knowing that she is now joining The Lord...
She is now free from worries, sorrows, anger, sickness and stress... I felt better!

Rest in peace!
